Invites and Save the Dates Pt. 2!

The story continues yesterday, with the delivery of a wonderful early engagement gift from my parents! They bought us an AWESOME printer/scanner/fax/photocopier (ie. everything but the kitchen sink!) with a second lot of cartridges - and gave it to us now so that I can do all of our engagement invites! We loves our new toy :) The future hubby got stuck into it as soon as they left and we had it up and running last night:

I love that our printer was nice enough to congratulation us on our first wireless print off!

So it's all set up and shiny now, I picked up some paper today and have just started printing off our engagement invites! I'll give you guys a preview in the not too distant future. My FMIL and FSIL stopped in this evening for various reasons, and got to be the first to see the invites :) So far so good, they thought they looked good!

On that note, I leave this post with a picture of the awesome book my FMIL bought for me and dropped in tonight! I'm so excited to look through it, and already know that it has a template for the wedding invite I was looking at making! Quite excited! What cool things have other people bought you, related to your wedding planning??

Invites and Save the Dates

The past weekend was definitely invite based! After all the little fiddly cards and stickers on Saturday night, Sunday was spent taking pictures and printing off Save the Dates....whiiiiiiich I'm now not sure about anyway....fun times. Don't get me wrong, I really like them but because of the picture that we settled on for the actual engagement invites, I feel like they are too similar. And I'm a little sad that neither of them ended up being with our signs! Purely accidental, we do have some nice ones with the signs (which I'll show you soon!) but we both really loved the picture we've decided to use for the invites and unfortunately the Save the Dates really needed a colour picture (as the rest of it is grey and white!) and we only really had one colour picture that we felt appropriate for the STD - all the sign ones that we liked were in B&W, or were using the opposite side of the cards, when I really wanted to use the "He asked" and "She said Yes!" sides (more engagement appropriate me thinks!)

It now looks like we can't actually send the STDs with the engagement invites anyway, thanks to difficulties with the wedding list (we all knew that was going to happen. It's inevitable during wedding planning, and more so when you are close to all of your first cousins...like I am). So if we are sending them out at a later date, there's a possibility of taking one specific photo for them and reprinting them. They actually didn't take all that long, so I'm happy to do that. The card stock was only $6, so it's hardly going to break the bank!

Here's a preview (I feel ok putting this on here since only 2 people who are actually going to receive these are reading this, and they have both already seen them!):
230520_10150193280493598_563038597_7099216_7387029_n230848_10150193282173598_563038597_7099233_4588905_n223256_10150193281528598_563038597_7099228_4297574_n
I think they look like more work then they actually are! But they aren't finished yet either...I'll wait to see what happens with the photo...

Has anyone else had problems with choosing similar photos for two different pieces of stationary?

We hit a problem also with the way of presenting these STDs. Originally I had the idea of cutting the edges with a border cutter, but when I actually did it, something looks not-quite-right about them...what do you guys think? We can do something similar to the top option, or leave them plain like the bottom, trim them and round the corners:

Would love to hear what you guys think!

my Saturday night!

Well I'm sad to have lost a bunch of comments thanks to Blogger's little hiccup the other day, but at least I didn't lose any posts! Haven't had a chance to do much wedding-related searching recently because the focus has been on the engagement invites that I'm finally almost able to get out!

I managed to find paper thick enough to be able to be used for our little cards in the envelopes, but still able to go through my dad's printer, and I printed a bunch of them off yesterday afternoon. My Saturday evening was spent cutting them up and cutting the corners! I think they have turned out good so far, although I ran out of paper so still have a few lots to print off. Then it's onto the actual STD and invites! I'm kinda using the engagement party invites as a test run to see how well things can turn out if I do them myself, so hopefully it all goes well! So far so good, and the "Love" monogram from a couple of posts ago works PERFECTLY as a sticker! Yay!

I also did up the bird cage this weekend, and I think it's turned out well! What do you guys think?? xx

ahhh!

Ok, I'm running around before work so I can't do a real post but I just had to say - Ahhhh! I just transferred a deposit through to our photographer! It's real! Ahhhh!

For anyone wanting to have a peek, we have decided to go with the absolutely lovely Sandra Henri!! (and for anyone in Oz, she shot a session for Modern Wedding's DIY magazine yesterday - it's due to hit newstands in November!)

I can't wait to work with Sandra, she is absolutely lovely, her style is gorgeous and we seem to have very similar tastes!!!

Now to find a priest/celebrant!!!

PS. On reflection, I should have known it was meant to be with our photographer - her logo is basically our wedding colours! *grin*

overwhelmed!

I was home from work today thanks to a busted tyre (I had my car for 2 years with no flat tyres then as soon as I get new tyres - BAM!) so I spent a lot of the day reading through some amazing wedding blogs I found (and am now following! check some out!). To be honest, the amazing ideas and creativity out there have blown me away and I'm feeling so overwhelmed that I actually didn't feel like blogging today!

Until I found this.

I happened to go onto Wedding Chicks to look up a completely different monogram that I wanted to try with A&G, for the engagement party related stuff (since I can hardly use A L G ones yet!), a discovered that they had put up a new monogram. With our wedding font. And no last name, just first names. It's PERFECT!

love

I spent the last couple of nights playing around with a monogram to use as the sticker for our engagement invite envelopes. I had originally wanted to use this one:

FORMAL

But when I printed it in the size we need it to be, it looked terrible. Given that most of the other's use the future-hubby's last name initial and we can't use them yet, and Darling Monograms and Barroca Monograms both don't have an option for "&", I decided to try and make my own. I came up with these two:

monogram without border with colour small
monogram

I will probably still use one of these as a watermark behind our card cage poem (which I have created myself and will post about later), but I think the new Love monogram by The Wedding Chicks will be just right! I'm going to print it off in the sticker size now and see how it looks. Wish me luck, because I *love* it!

instead of a wishing well...

I just realised that I passed my 1 month blogging birthday the other day! How fun. If you cannot tell that I'm addicted, maybe the fact that in the 9 days of May I've managed to post 16 entries might give you a clue! (compared to 20 in the whole of April!)

Anywho...I've had quite a busy wedding/engagement party related day today, as evident by the many posts today. I apologise, but I really do want to record every moment :) And it's the random things that I find, that get me the most excited.

Not long ago, I saved this picture while randomly looking through Etsy. I loved the idea of a card holder that was a little different then a traditional wishing well (although my hubby-to-be's father has made some pretty lovely ones!).

I told my mum about it, who thought it was pretty cool, and decided that at some point down the track I'd have a look through the markets and see what I could find. Figured we'd just use one of the FIL-to-be's for the engagement party and see if I could get a bird cage for the wedding.

Then today, I was down at the shops getting engagement invite related items, and as I was walking past a store THIS happened to catch my eye:

It's perfect! Pay day, I am heading back to pick it up. So excited! Now to buy some pretty ribbon and print off a sign for the front, and that's another thing down. Whoo!

What kind of ideas did/do you guys have for your card holders/wishing wells?

wedding related delivery!

Whoo! I had been waiting patiently for this package all day...by 4:30 I had given up. At quarter to 5, a lovely lady knocked on our door! Couldn't believe it, I was very excited. (warning: yes, I AM a stationary nerd...) It is my wedding organiser!

I ordered this last week from Kikki K and have been waiting rather impatiently for it to arrive. After opening it all up, it's already filled with all my contracts so far and a bazillion wedding related items. I feel much better already, knowing it is all organised and in one place! *sigh happily* Below are some pics of my new baby...Anyone else slightly OCD about organisation? What kinda of things do you have to keep all your wedding gear together?

Naw!

I just "liked" the Guylian Belgian Chocolate Cafe, Sydney on Facebook. Bit slow on the uptake, I know. But I was looking through their wall, and on the 11th of February they wrote this status:

"Guylian Belgian Chocolate Cafe, Sydney:
Congratulations to the two love birds who got engaged yesterday at Guylian Belgian Chocolate Cafe The Rocks. We did not want to disturb you but wish you all the happiness for your future together! ♥ ♥ Love is in the air!!!"

That was us!!!! Nawwww....

another peek...

So we've decided to re-shoot our photos, for a number of reasons, but there are still a few that we can use...like this one below. I love it hehe. What do you think? I can't wait to finish off our invites now...

IMG_9309

I've been running around today, picking up envelopes, backing card, cutters and some paper to try through my printer for the STD/Wishing Well cards. Quite excited to get started, but can't until we agree on an image for our invite, after the next shoot. But I think I like this one^ a lot...maybe for the STDs...(my brother pointed out yesterday how horrible that abbreviation is...)

deciding on a stamp

I'm trying to pick out an address stamp for all of our invites, for our return address. I can't decide! There are so many gorgeous ones on Etsy! These are the four that we've narrowed it down to. The future hubby isn't really fussed...I can't decide on my own!

Which do you guys like best??
