in one year...

On this day in one year's time, I will be getting ready with my girls...

On this day in one year's time, I will be getting last minute touch ups and trying not to cry...

On this day in one year's time, I will watch as each of my bridesmaids leave me...

On this day in one year's time, I'll take my first steps down the aisle...

On this day in one year's time, I'll meet the man I've chosen to spend my life with at the front of our Chapel, in front of our family and friends...

We'll smile. We might cry. We'll exchange our vows and promise to love and support each other, always.

On this day in one year's time, we'll start our lives as man and wife...

shoes, shoes, shoes...

Since purple has become a definite colour in our wedding, I have fallen in love with the idea of having a pop of purple under my dress on our wedding day, in the form of my shoes!!! I've noticed a lot of people tend to go with blue (as in their "something blue") when picking coloured shoes, but purple seems to be a close second! (along with pink and red!) I've seen a lot of cute shots with coloured shoes, but this one definitely gets me:

I would love something like that with purple shoes!!

Since 3/5 bridesmaids and both flower girls will be wearing blush, and only 2 bridesmaids will be wearing lavender, I feel like I can use purple a little more liberally without the whole wedding becoming entirely purple. It's turning out to be fun! When I decided I wanted purple wedding shoes, I turned to the faithful internet to search for some options...

...so far I have found both a pair of purple flats AND a pair of purple heels that I really like, for brand new on eBay! What do you guys think??

I'm very tempted to buy these ...

ALTHOUGH...

Both of these shoes did tempt me towards the more traditional colour scheme...Particularly the heels! I do really love them...but I do really want some colour!!

From Peep Toe Shoes (this shot really doesn't do them justice...the bow on front is SO cute!)

And speaking of Forever New... (although not shoes)

I think this gorgeous white (very bridal!) travel wallet will be my next purchase, come pay day...perfect for our honeymoon, don't you think? (that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it!)

PS. It has a matching luggage tag and mobile phone case...*looks sheepish* Surely I need those as well...right...?

today's sneaky buy...

Well! Today brought a little bit of unexpected fun! While aimlessly trawling the stores at lunch today, I came across 2 little blush skirts... 2 cute little blush skirts for $9 each, that I think might work really well for our flowergirls!!!

All along I have known that I wanted something different for our girls - not the normal white dress with a sash that you see so frequently. Different is my tune for this wedding, I'm trying to make everything a little different from the norm.

There's been a couple of things that have caught my idea when thinking of the littlest ladies in out wedding party, including some Etsy buys:

And some cute little skirts:

So really it was great when I found these little beauties today! (in almost the *perfect* shade of blush - just slightly more pink than the older ladies) I love that the flowers are removable and love the pretty layers... I think with a little embellished grey top, and some sparkly shoes, these might just be great!!

Oh this picture really does look bad, I promise they are really cute in reality! And not so pink looking!

The only problem is that these aren't girls skirts - they are actually an Aussie Ladies 6 (basically the smallest ladies size in Aus) so their use will be determined by how easy it will be to take them in. However, they are a VERY small looking 6 and they are elasticized... So hopefully just taking in the seam a little will do the trick!!

Did any if you guys have an unexpected wedding buy that popped up out of nowhere? Or a purchase you didn't quite know would work??

colour scheme revisited... (aka how purple crept into our colour scheme!)

With our bridesmaid dresses now officially chosen, and in the process of being purchased, our colour scheme is now officially set. While it doesn't much differ from the original posts, as predicted we ended up adding lavender into the mix. Which in turn seems to be resulting a deeper purple becoming a highlight colour...

I shouldn't really be surprised that purple was going to be added in really...Would you like to see why?

The dress I wore to our engagement party!

A pic similar to the car that my brother's friend's grandfather is letting us use on the wedding day, if the fiance chooses to need a car (we didn't choose the colour. It's what he has!)

Photos from our venue...

And finally...

The future hubby's favourite colour? You guessed it.

Purple.

So I guess it was just meant to be! All in all, I'm very happy with the colour scheme that has snuck out. As a young girl, lavender was one of my favourite scents, and it still is one of my favourite herbs. I can't wait to we buy our house, to plant some lavender in the garden :)

It has also given me more research material and I've stumbled happily into the word of purple wedding shoes and lavender (the herb!) accents...

...but more on that later.

For now, I leave you with a quick (very quick!) inspiration board I made up tonight. Yep, it's the first one I've actually made and I rather like it. What do you guys think?!

just beautiful...

Kate Moss's church

Now why can't Australia have churches from the 1200's just lying around? *swoon*

............

PS - We have officially chosen the bridesmaids dresses from the previous post! We picked my sister-in-law's up yesterday! *squee*

where I've been...

...and why I might be MIA for a while!

Currently, the future hubby and I are packing up our house. Yep, our whole house. All to go into storage. It seems like a sudden decision, but at the same time it seems like something that's been coming for a while...

The future hubby and I are currently renting. I hate it. I hate that my money is going to someone else's mortgage, I hate that our home is not our own, and I hate that we have no control over our own place (and most importantly, how I'm allowed to decorate it!)

And while our place has been fine for the last 2 years, it has always felt small and lately it just seems to have been feeling squishier and squishier...We finally decided to try and apply for some new places. We put in some applications and started thinking about packing. And then, literally the day after putting in our first applications, we completely did a 360 turn. We decided that we don't want our dream of owning our home to be something that is in the future, we want to bring it into our present. But unfortunately, we are just not physically going to be able to save up enough money to buy our place, while we are renting.

SO. We made a decision. We spoke to my parents. And now, the future hubby and I are on the brink of returning to almost responsibility free, young adulthood. Yep, we're moving in with the parents!

After talking about it, it seems like the only logical thing to do. We plan to live with my parents for 6 - 9 months (paying them board of course!), save up our money, pay off our debts and start our wedded life together (hopefully. Otherwise just AFTER our wedding) in our own home. Ready to start a family, and all in all a much better start to our life together. We're very excited. But first comes the packing. And the living in a room for 6 - 9 months....

...but the sacrifice will be worth it!

As such however, I might be MIA or posting rather inconsistently while all of this change is taking place. I have so many ideas for so many posts, but everything is a bit on top of us at the moment!

BUT one thing at a time, once we're settled in at Mum and Dad's, I should actually have more time to post - which will be brilliant!

So please excuse the absence, I'll be back to more regular posts soon!

(and in case anyone was wondering...we got approved for a bigger, prettier house. :( Makes it that much harder to give up!)
