friday first dance find #7

Landon Pigg - Falling in Love at a Coffee Shop
I think that possibly
Maybe I'm falling for you
Yes, there's a chance that I've fallen quite hard over you
I've seen the paths that your eyes wander down
I want to come too

I think that possibly
Maybe I'm falling for you
No one understands me quite like you do
Through all of the shadowy corners of me

I never knew just what it was about this old coffee shop I love so much
All of the while I never knew
I never knew just what it was about this old coffee shop I love so much
All of the while I never knew

I think that possibly
Maybe I'm falling for you
Yes, there's a chance that I've fallen quite hard over you
I've seen the waters that make your eyes shine
Now I'm shining too
Because, Oh, because I've fallen quite hard over you

If I didn't know you, I'd rather not know
If I couldn't have you, I'd rather be alone

I never knew just what it was about this old coffee shop I love so much
All of the while I never knew
I never knew just what it was about this old coffee shop I love so much
All of the while I never knew

All of the while
All of the while
All of the while it was you, you!

friday first dance find #6

I was so excited when I first heard this song on the radio...then so disappointed when the announcer said it was from Breaking Dawn! (Sorry Twi-hards, I am not one of you!) Oh well, it really is a beautiful song...even if it is from Twilight! :P (just kidding!)

Heart beats fast
Colors and promises
How to be brave
How can I love when I'm afraid to fall
Watching you stand alone
All of my doubt suddenly goes away somehow

One step closer

I have died every day waiting for you
Darling don't be afraid I have loved you
For a thousand years
I'll love you for a thousand more

Time stands still
Beauty in all she is
I will be brave
I will not let anything take away
What's standing in front of me
Every breath
Every hour has come to this

One step closer

I have died every day waiting for you
Darling don't be afraid I have loved you
For a thousand years
I'll love you for a thousand more

And all along I believed I would find you
Time has brought your heart to me
I have loved you for a thousand years
I'll love you for a thousand more

One step closer
One step closer

I have died every day waiting for you
Darling don't be afraid I have loved you
For a thousand years
I'll love you for a thousand more

And all along I believed I would find you
Time has brought your heart to me
I have loved you for a thousand years
I'll love you for a thousand more

friday first dance find #5

Another Aussie performer this week! I must be feeling patriotic...

This is gorgeous song, speaks for itself. Sweet lyrics, gorgeous tune, beautiful song :)

It can take such a long time
Life is not a sure thing
Can walk right past your eyes
Like a dream you couldn’t keep
My eyes were open at the right time
When you were looking my way

And I’ll take you home
Not just for the weekend
We’ll chase the day's light
Welcome in the night
I want to know the sight

And I’ll keep you warm
Not just for this moment
We’ll walk a million miles
Through the years of our lives
Never alone, 'cause I’ll take you home

Fell for a wandering star
Wasn’t meant to be
Gave my heart to a broken dream
That faded too easily
My eyes were open at the right time
When you were walking my way

And I’ll take you home
Not just for the weekend
We’ll chase the day's light
Welcome in the night
I want to know the sight

And I’ll keep you warm
Not just for this moment
We’ll walk a million miles
Through the years of our lives
Never alone, 'cause I’ll take you home

And I’ll take you home
Not just for the weekend
We’ll chase the day's light
Welcome in the night
I want to know the sight

And I’ll keep you warm
Not just for this moment
We’ll walk a million miles
Through the years of our lives
Never alone, never alone
'Cause I’ll take you home

AUTHOR's NOTE: I just walked into the living room, where my Dad is watching "Spicks and Specks". Special guest? Damien Leith! Random!

friday first dance find #4

Today's song feature is a fellow Aussie! Miss Kate Miller-Heidke is an AMAZING artist with some fantastic songs and a great vocal range - definitely check out her other songs if you've never heard of her...

The song I've chosen to feature is the gorgeous "Space They Cannot Touch". I fell in love with this song the first time I ever heard it, and with the idea of the little world between you and your loved one that no one else can enter - even if it's only a few fleeting moments that you steal, there's that magical place that you can escape to that is purely about the two of you. Reminds me most of Sunday mornings waking up in each others arms, before the rest of the world creeps in...

Hope you guys enjoy! There's no official film clip for this song, but as per normal the lyrics are below the YouTube clip for you to read through :)

How's my luck
But somehow I'm with you
Let's leave now
Let's leave them,
their point of view
My favourite place is me and you

I wake up in the darkest night
Watch you breathe in shadow light
A perfect world lies next to me
And I don't need to sleep to dream

I just hope I am good enough to keep you

Morning sun warms our skin
And distant sounds, the day begins
Soon their world will come calling for us
But this is the space they cannot touch

I just hope I am good enough to keep you

friday first dance finds #3

Today's first dance find is an amazing song that I LOVE (it probably helps that this artist has such an awesome name ;) hehe) and I remember getting really excited about when I found it...this will definitely be one of the songs playing in our little Chapel before our ceremony! It would make a cute first dance song as well though...

..."Marry Me" by Amanda Marshall. I love that it is a "Marry Me" song that isn't so well known and all over the radio (as much as I love the ones that are!) Without further ado, the YouTube link (unfortunately there's no film clip) and Lyrics are below. Enjoy!

I wanna laugh until I cry
Wake up with you each day 'till the day that I die
Let's go to New Orleans and watch the parade
Take funny pictures, eat jambalaya, and drink lemonade

And when the day is finally over and we stumble home
Before we sleep
Baby, marry me

I wanna drive until we get lost
Lie in a field staring up at the sky while you point out the Southern Cross
Somehow I know without asking why
That you love me more in a minute than anyone could in a lifetime

Dancing in the parking lot while the band plays inside
Sweep me off my feet
Baby, marry me

We don't need no preacher man readin' from the Good Book
And I don't want no fancy dress
Ain't no ceremony full of vows that I took
From the moment I met you I have been blessed

So let's make a toast and drink up the wine
Here's to you lying here next to me until the end of time
Wherever you are, I wanna be
And anything that means anything to ya means everything to me

Sneakin' out the back door while they're throwing the rice
And they'll talk for weeks but we're all we need
So baby, if you're free
Marry me
Baby, marry me
Marry me

friday first dance finds #2

This week's Friday First Dance Find is a little more common then last week's - a beautiful cover of "Make You Feel My Love", performed by Adele. I have to admit, I hadn't seen the film clip for this song until I YouTubed it for this post - it's slightly depressing!

But the song is gorgeous, I heard it a long time before Adele became the name on everyone's lips (although I'm still trying to work out where...my guess is a movie or TV soundtrack that I own but I have no idea which one!) and it really is a lovely song. I realise that part of it is about someone not making their mind up about a relationship, but the rest of the lyrics are so fitting - about being there for your partner when nothing else seems to be. I love it!

Lyrics are included below. Enjoy!

When the rain is blowing in your face
And the whole world is on your case
I could offer you a warm embrace
To make you feel my love

When the evening shadows and the stars appear
And there is no - one there to dry your tears
I could hold you for a million years
To make you feel my love

I know you haven't made your mind up yet
But I would never do you wrong
I've known it from the moment that we met
No doubt in my mind where you belong

I'd go hungry, I'd go black and blue
I'd go crawling down the avenue
No, there's nothing that I wouldn't do
To make you feel my love

The storms are raging on the rolling sea
And on the highway of regret
Though winds of change are blowing wild and free
You ain't seen nothing like me yet

I could make you happy, make your dreams come true
There is nothing that I wouldn't do
Go to the ends of the Earth for you
To make you feel my love, To make you feel my love

friday first dance finds!

I've decided to start a new weekly post! Given that much of my wedding related activity lately is more research then creation, I wanted to find a way to record this on the blog. The future hubby and I have just begun discussing options for our first dance music (as my processional choice has been decided for years!) but I've been compiling music for a few months now.

Given that the word of the day when it comes to our wedding is trying to be "different" and all of the songs that are related to moments in our relationship are anything but, we are forgoing the idea of "our song" as our first dance and looking for a specific first dance song. During the search I've found some amazing music that isn't quite right for our first dance, but definitely might be for someone else out there! And since here in BlogWorld we just love to share, that's what I've decided to do :)

Now that's not to say that some familiar and probably very popular songs might not work there way on (come on, I can't resist putting Train's "Marry Me" on here at some point!) but I hope that you might find some refreshing options to the overused ones you might find on other corners of the Internet. And since we haven't chosen our song yet, ours might be hiding in the bunch!

I would love to hear your feedback on this - the good, the bad, the ugly - and whether it's something you'd like to see!!

Without further ado, the first Friday First Dance find - "Shattered" by Remy Zero

This song captivated me the moment I heard it on the Smallville soundtrack. The future hubby and I were both Smallville fans when we started dating, and he gave me a copy of the soundtrack. The future hubby loves his comics, and Superman is by far his fav. The fact he's secretly Superman (shhh don't tell anyone) has been an ongoing joke for years, and my family (and extended family!) have always loved finding random Superman finds for him!

(I'm also working on trying to get him to do an awesome photo op like this at the wedding!)

The music is beautiful and the lyrics hint at the amazing power someone can have with just a look - I certainly remember the first one the future hubby and I shared when we met!

The lyrics are included below for you, I hope you guys enjoy it as much as I do! Xx

Grace in light
Somehow I found you here
Torn from the hope and fear
Holds us inside

Pull me out
Out from the world I've known
And all love was broken cold
Brought me here

From you one look
Just one look and everything is shattered
From you one word
Towers burn and fall, fall, fall

Just be still
Arms just surround like the sun
Facing the life we've begun
It holds us inside

From you one look
Just one look and everything is shattered
From you one word
Towers burn and fall, fall, fall

From you one look
Just one look and everything is shattered
From you one word
Towers burn and fall and fall

Fires curl
Shadows surge
A hollow sound that no one else can hear
But me in silent streams
Forever more we dream
