friday's letters

Linking up with Ashley for Friday's Letters for the first time! Been meaning to do this for a while but...well, today I can start with a bang!

Dear Husband, Today marks 6 months since our wedding. It's flown by, yet at the same time it seems like we have always been together in this marriage. I'm so excited to be next to you through all of life's journeys and everything we have coming up for us.

Dear Life, You kinda rule right now. I'm so excited to see what you have in store for us and where this year will be taking us!

Dear Followers, SURPRISE!

recap: details - the ceremony

Saturday, 29th September, 2012

Our ceremony probably had most of the handmade details that we created for our wedding (well, I being me, with the hubs approval - although he WAS fantastic helping put together all our programs!) I absolutely loved how all the details fell together and I'm very proud of all our hardwork!

Enjoy having a peek into the finer details of our ceremony!

(Please note that I'm super nervous about sharing Sandra's work here but I don't want to watermark her gorgeousness. All the following photos are the work of Sandra Henri Photography and are not to be taken, copied, used or edited in any way without permission from Sandra. Steal them and claim them as your own and we will bust your butt evil copy-right violation people!)

our gorgeous Chapel, inside and out!

our programs...so proud of these! the back had our 2 readings printed

these signs on our old-fashioned hat boxes/suitcase were a last minute DIY I didn't get to blog. made from scrapbook paper and attached to twine, they are pretty straight forward! I attached gold stick on scrapbooking letters to spell out the words required

our entrance table decorated with the handmade Cinderella hearts, our new shared last name initials, our programs, little bags of tossing lavender & our personalised handkerchiefs

recap: arriving at the ceremony!

Saturday, 29th September, 2012

After we distributed our flowers, and the photographers finished up with my Bridal Portraits and headed down to take photos of the guys, we ladies waited in my hotel room for the phone to ring to say it was time to meet our coordinator down in the lobby. It's crazy to say that I still felt absolutely no nerves. Just a peaceful calm.

The phone call finally came and we were on the move! The girls grabbed a hold of my dress, we made our way down the stairs and on the way got to peek into our reception room, which was about halfway set up. Oh my, it was exciting to see that coming to life!

As we headed to the entrance of the Sebel, Rebecca (our coordinator) had us stand behind the wall as some guests were still entering the Chapel. That was pretty exciting, knowing that just over there, everyone was waiting for us!

We got the all clear and headed up to the Chapel. My sister-in-law was out front with my little niece, (flower girl Tamzyn!) who was pushing around a pram and dolly, waiting for us. As soon as she saw us, Kimmy burst into tears. That was the first time I got teary! I remember calling out to her, "Kimberley Le Roux, you stop that or you're going to make me cry!"

And so we all lined up, waiting for our music cue to head on into the Chapel and start the beginning of the rest of my life...

I love looking at the photos below, not only because they capture my memories, but because they give me glimpses into what I missed while we were waiting to head to the Chapel!

recap: details - the flowers

Saturday, 29th September, 2012

Ooooh our flowers. How I loved them. The bridesmaids bouquets in particular (is that weird?!) Our florists did such a wonderful job...I may have mentioned it before but our bouquet florists were family friends of mine - I grew up dancing with Tiffany, who made and designed our actual bouquets. Her mum has owned their florist store for as long as I remember, and my dad used to help out with deliveries on really busy days of the year (like Valentine's Day) when I was a kid.

Below are the bouquets they made. The girls' were PERFECT. Mine was lovely, I probably would have liked it a little less structured, with more of the dusty miller showing, but other than that it was spot on. It's currently dried out and waiting for me to work some crafty magic to display it! Enjoy!

the girls' bouquets - oh how beautifully did they go with their dresses?! *swoon*

The following photos are the flowers designed by the team attached to the Sebel. The lady who did these was *lovely* and really tried to listen to what we wanted and what we were having in our bouquets and boutonnieres and make them as close as possible (without seeing them! how hard!). The long and low displayed on the white tale at our ceremony (which was actually a half size long and low - we split two smaller ones over our bridal table, as you'll see in our reception pics!) was moved to our reception afterwards, as were the pedestal flowers AND we got to take them all home afterwards! I wish we could have enjoyed them but since we jetted off to the Gold Coast a day or so later, my Mum gave one to my MIL and kept the other at home. The centrepieces disappeared by the end of the reception, but we were hapy with that since we wanted our families and friends to take them home anyway!

oh my, the chats we had about getting these centrepieces to work :) they were very different from the normal centrepieces the Sebel staff create (mostly glassware, floating candles/flowers, etc.) but we were happy with how they turned out!

Well, that's all our flowers! Onto the nitty gritty...
