26 weeks!

16.06.2013 - 22.06.2013

this week's photo was taken after a LONG day walking around Winter Magic Festival and just before our fridge filled our house with gas...resulting in a very stressful weekend and start to week 27!

How far along? 26 weeks!

Baby Size: Baby is the size of papaya

Total weight gain: Roughly a kilo a month

Maternity clothes? Yessum! Mostly because while I still fit into my winter tops in every other way, they are now too short and maternity tops are the only ones I can find long enough to cover the bump! So I use them as a base and I’ve been layering with non-maternity items…it’s been fun and all my skinny belts are finally getting a work out!

Stretch marks? Nope! But using lots of cream and Bio Oil because I get very itchy!

Sleep: Bad. Very, very bad! My hips have gotten worse and I went at least 2 nights with absolutely no sleep. An emotional pregnant lady this does make! My midwife has made a referral to the hospital physio for me and we blew up the air mattress for me to sleep on, which has definitely helped. It’s probably messing my body up in other ways but hey, at the moment as long as I’m getting sleep I don’t care!

Best moment this week: Going to Little Bean’s cousin’s baby shower and the hub’s 10 year reunion, where he enjoyed showing off The Bump! Hehe. Also getting a whole bunch of baby things from my cousin, who just had her last (a little girl, after two boys).

Miss Anything? SLEEP!

Movement: Loads and loads! They are kicking away as I type! Baby loves when Mama is all warm and snuggled in bed or under a blanket on the couch and goes crazy…

Food cravings: Still get random cravings for Milky Bars! Lemon and sugar crepes are still a big one, and the occasional jam donut

Anything making you queasy or sick: The smell of cigarettes makes me want to hurl…and I haven’t been able to stomach stir fries (which we all normally love!) or BBQs for a while now

Gender: Still a surprise!

Symptoms: Holy heartburn Batman!!! Heart burn suddenly went inside this week and I caved and got some Rennie’s. Still got an itchy belly, lots of movement and sore hips when sleeping

Belly Button in or out? In

Wedding rings on or off? On

Mood: Content

Looking forward to: Our baby shower, which is slowly creeping up on us – I saw the invites!! (I know nothing else…)

going back to...24 weeks!

02.06.2013 - 08.06.2013

How far along? 24 weeks!

Baby Size: Baby is the size of an eggplant still

Total weight gain: Roughly a kilo a month

Maternity clothes? Yep, yep!

Sleep: Interrupted :( My hips have been playing up while trying to sleep – I switch from one side to the other until they both hurt enough that I can’t sleep anymore…I was sleeping on our couch for a while, because it was softer on my hips! But I managed to come up with a way to sleep in bed – doubled up on pillows between the legs and put a bolster behind me, under the bottom sheet, so if my hips get too sore to take my weight I can lean back on the bolster and it *feels* like I’m on my back without actually being on my back!

Best moment this week: Our midwife appointment – always good to hear baby’s heartbeat (and this time the umbilical cord!) thumping away AND someone else finally got to feel Little Bean move! Aunty Alicia got three nice big kicks when she and Micheal were over for dinner…she felt very special!

Miss Anything? Sleeping through the night, my mint coloured jeans lol

Movement: Loads and loads! Baby loves when Mama is all warm and snuggled in bed or under a blanket on the couch and goes crazy…

Food cravings: Milky Bars!

Anything making you queasy or sick: The smell of cigarettes makes me want to hurl…and I haven’t been able to stomach stir fries (which we all normally love!) or BBQs for a while now

Gender: Still a surprise!

Symptoms: Itchy belly, lots of movement and some heartburn…and sore hips when sleeping!

Looking forward to: Getting the furniture we ordered earlier this week – the crib and change table!

recap: the reception...part two!

Saturday, 29th September, 2012

The party to end all parties, where time flew by and I felt like I wanted to be everywhere at once! Our reception truly seemed to go by in the blink of an eye but was so incredibly wonderful...I will try not to share too many photos, as many of them are of people you don't know, eating, dancing and posing. But I wanted to share those from our speeches, cake cutting and of course, our first dance. Enjoy!

(Please note that I'm super nervous about sharing Sandra's work here but I don't want to watermark her gorgeousness. All the following photos are the work of Sandra Henri Photography and are not to be taken, copied, used or edited in any way without permission from Sandra. Steal them and claim them as your own and we will bust your butt evil copy-right violation people!)

Did you miss Part One?

...time to cut our beautiful cake!

The Dances!

we did things a little different with our dances, having the father/daughter dance first and then having my dad pass my onto my husband for our first dance. traditionally, the order is the other way around. our DJ/MC recommended this order and I have to say I loved it. the only thing it missed was an opportunity for other fathers/daughters to join us. but it felt very special to dance one last time with my daddy before taking my first dance as a wife...

"...and I will dance with Cinderella, while she is here in my arms...'cause I know something the Price never knew...I will dance with Cinderella, I don't want to miss even one song. 'Cause all too soon the clock will strike midnight, and she'll be gone..." - Steven Curtis Chapman, 'Cinderella'

our first dance

"Slow down, make it last, I'm having the time of my life. And take your photograph, I don't want to leave this behind...What seems so out of reach, we're holding it right in our hands. Let's give up everything, let's jump in and never look back..."

"...This is all I ever wanted but life got in my way. You're all I ever wanted, I didn't see how it could change, that something was missing until today..." - Brian Melo, 'All I Ever Wanted'

...then everyone else joined in, and forever after began!

...of course, it wouldn't have been a 2012 wedding without some Gangnam Style...and a dance off :)

And so, that brings to a close the recaps of the most wonderful day of my life so far. I still can't believe that this day happened, we are really married and we had such a celebration of love. But writing these recaps have made me remember just how wonderful that day was, and the memory of that will stay with me for a lifetime. I hope you have all enjoyed reading along and I look forward to sharing a few more photos here and there, just not recap style (I haven't shown you any of our beautiful portraits or bridal party shots...but I thought I would save those for later posts). If you have missed anything, have a peek below or on our "Wedding Day" page, up on the main menu bar. To all those planning their weddings - I wish you an amazing day of happiness, joy and love. To those who have finished/are writing their recaps - I hope they help cement your memories, as this process has for me.

Much love,
Amanda xxx

recap: the reception...part one!

Saturday, 29th September, 2012

The Entrances!

Our Bridal Party danced on in to "Party Rock Anthem" by LMFAO - a lot of fun! - and the new Mr & Mrs entered to "Fight for You" by Jason DeRulo - a little nod to the hubs and his South African heritage...get it? ;) Hehe

having a good look at all the family wedding photos on display...parents, grandparents, great-grand parents and I even managed to get one of my GREAT-great grandparents on my mum's side! my grandmother in particular LOVED this...

I just adore this picture of my parents...30+ years of marriage, I hope one day we are doing this at our children's weddings!

The Speeches!

my dad was up first...a lovely speech but kept light enough that thankfully I didn't cry...

next up was my father-in-law, who had everyone in stitches! he isn't a fan of public speaking and came organised with everything written out for him this time (unlike my sister-in-law's wedding where he tried out 'off the cuff'!)...he lost his place and made a few faux paus that cracked everyone up and made his speech very memorable!

then came the best man speech...yes, that is a bowl of keys in front of me! I should have seen this coming (I had seen it done before after all!) but I was oblivious until all the gentlemen in the room I was NOT related to began bringing keys to place in the bowl that staff so kindly provided at my brother-in-law's request - they were all asked to return the keys to my room as I was now a married lady! (hilariously funny, but slightly awkward when the group includes ex-boyfriend's and friend's husbands!!! haha, it was a lot of fun)

my brother-in-law then handed the mike back to the best man, who hinted (with a selection of items such as a lollipop and a glove...don't ask!) at rather embarrassing stories from the hub's buck's night, much to said hubs dismay!

and lastly, my wonderful maid of honour's speech. this one bought me to tears. full of stories, memories from the 25+ (yes, you read that right!) years we have known each other and hope for the future, this one was a giggler and a tear jerker all in one. annie had filled a vintage suitcase full of items from our years together, including our preschool jumpers, primary school uniform and the matching lunch box/drink bottle we had to have matching lunches in and our senior high uniforms. I have no idea how I will ever top this speech for her one day!! I best start planning now.

after speeches we had a little surprise for our flower girl Emily, who's birthday was the day before our wedding! she had a little help from little Miss Violet to blow out her candles...then all they wanted to do was get back to swirling! such girly girls...

the role of saying some words of thanks fell to me, as my poor hubby had almost completely lost his voice at this point of the night! I didn't have anything prepared and thought I did pretty ok...but I still cringe when I hear the video!

then it was time to cut our beautiful cake

...To Be Continued...
