We have come together in the presence of God to witness the marriage of Graham and Amanda, to surround them with our prayers and to share in their joy.
Marriage is appointed by God. It is a gift of God in creation and a means of grace in which a man and a woman become one in heart, mind and body. It is a way of life which all people should honour and it is not to be entered into lightly or selfishly, but responsibly and in the love of God.
"Love is a temporary madness; it erupts like volcanoes and then subsides. And when it subsides you have to make a decision. You have to work out whether your roots have so entwined together that it is inconceivable that you should ever part. Because this is what love is." - Excerpt from "Captain Corelli's Mandolin"
Graham and Amanda, do you believe that God has blessed you and guided you, and now calls you into marriage?
Will you, the family and friends of Graham and Amanda, who have come to share this wedding day, uphold them in their marriage and support them in prayer?
"A good marriage must be created. In the marriage, the little things are the big things. It is never being too old to hold hands. It is remembering to say, "I love you" at least once a day...It is standing together facing the world. It is forming a circle of love that gathers in the whole family...It is not only marrying the right partner, it is BEING the right partner. This is The Art of Marriage." - Excerpt from "The Art of Marriage" by Wilferd A. Peterson
I, in the presence of God, declare my love for you. I call upon my family and friends here with us today to witness that I take you to be my lawful wedded partner, to have and to hold for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish as long as we both shall live. This is my solemn vow.
With this ring, I give you my heart - I have no greater gift to give. It is a seal of my unending love. Wear it as a reminder of our vows and as a symbol of all that we share.
God of steadfast love, by your blessing let these rings be to Graham and Amanda a symbol of the vows which they have made this day; Through Jesus Christ our Lord
Before God and in the presence of us all, Graham and Amanda have made their solemn vows. They have confirmed their marriage by joining hands and the giving and receiving of rings. In the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, I therefore proclaim that they are now husband and wife.
This silken ribbon close entwines two hearts in love together. Friendships dearest pledge is made in joy forever. United you shall walk through life, sharing Earth's pain and pleasure. Hand and hand you will strive for achievements in life together. As we look to the future: Should your path be rough and thorny, let love sustain and guide you. Should your way be strewn with roses, let the joy of life embrace you.
You may now kiss the bride!
We did it!
