the engagement invites!

Finally I can show you the inside of our invites! Almost everyone has received them now and those who read this blog definitely have :) Blurring really is irritating when you've worked so hard on something, but definitely necessary.

So without any further ado, pictures!

This is what everyone received inside their envelopes:

Close ups of each item:

Unfortunately I don't have a close up of the invite on the backing card, which was a pretty shimmery peachy colour, but I think they turned out well! I've had lots of people asking what company I went through :) Quite proud to say I did them myself!

And this is what our families and closest friends have received as well. We will be sending out a second round of Save The Dates once the guest list is finalised, but given the amount of people getting married around the same time as us, we wanted to give family and our inner circle a heads up!

We decided to make the Save The Date a magnet, so everyone can pop them on their fridges! And yes, I caved and added a mini STD - I couldn't resist that cute little Wedding Chicks one! I loved it and had to use it somehow :)

And close ups:

Whatcha think guys? I was quite happy with them! So far, positive feedback from those who have received them!

some odds and ends

This post is mostly just for some cute bits and pieces I've found online and wanted to share!

First up, how cool are these STD's:

So cute! I would have loved to have tried something like this but I think they are a little too fiddly...I would have gotten annoyed! Hehe

A fun "Bridal Party Survival Kit" template can be found here! I definitely want to make some bridal party survival kits so will be keeping this template in mind.

A cute tree-themed STD!

And a just-as-cute invite!

And lastly, some cute little flags! I love these and think they would be fun in photos...it's a cute little DIY!! What do you think?

Invites and Save the Dates

The past weekend was definitely invite based! After all the little fiddly cards and stickers on Saturday night, Sunday was spent taking pictures and printing off Save the Dates....whiiiiiiich I'm now not sure about anyway....fun times. Don't get me wrong, I really like them but because of the picture that we settled on for the actual engagement invites, I feel like they are too similar. And I'm a little sad that neither of them ended up being with our signs! Purely accidental, we do have some nice ones with the signs (which I'll show you soon!) but we both really loved the picture we've decided to use for the invites and unfortunately the Save the Dates really needed a colour picture (as the rest of it is grey and white!) and we only really had one colour picture that we felt appropriate for the STD - all the sign ones that we liked were in B&W, or were using the opposite side of the cards, when I really wanted to use the "He asked" and "She said Yes!" sides (more engagement appropriate me thinks!)

It now looks like we can't actually send the STDs with the engagement invites anyway, thanks to difficulties with the wedding list (we all knew that was going to happen. It's inevitable during wedding planning, and more so when you are close to all of your first cousins...like I am). So if we are sending them out at a later date, there's a possibility of taking one specific photo for them and reprinting them. They actually didn't take all that long, so I'm happy to do that. The card stock was only $6, so it's hardly going to break the bank!

Here's a preview (I feel ok putting this on here since only 2 people who are actually going to receive these are reading this, and they have both already seen them!):

I think they look like more work then they actually are! But they aren't finished yet either...I'll wait to see what happens with the photo...

Has anyone else had problems with choosing similar photos for two different pieces of stationary?

We hit a problem also with the way of presenting these STDs. Originally I had the idea of cutting the edges with a border cutter, but when I actually did it, something looks not-quite-right about them...what do you guys think? We can do something similar to the top option, or leave them plain like the bottom, trim them and round the corners:

Would love to hear what you guys think!

another peek...

So we've decided to re-shoot our photos, for a number of reasons, but there are still a few that we can use...like this one below. I love it hehe. What do you think? I can't wait to finish off our invites now...

I've been running around today, picking up envelopes, backing card, cutters and some paper to try through my printer for the STD/Wishing Well cards. Quite excited to get started, but can't until we agree on an image for our invite, after the next shoot. But I think I like this one^ a lot...maybe for the STDs...(my brother pointed out yesterday how horrible that abbreviation is...)

save the dates

Along with our engagement invites, I have been making our Save the Dates. Save the Dates don't seem to be a big thing here in Australia, unless you are having a wedding overseas and need to give a decent amount of notice for planning reasons. But since there are a number of people getting married around the same time as us, who run in the same circles (or family!), we decided to include a Save The Date for those invited to the wedding, with their engagement invite. I'm also going to make sure that none of our wedding related things, conflict with anyone else's wedding related things - I don't want to have to put our guests in that position and I want to make sure that each of the other ladies is Queen of her own day and events as well :)

So I was looking at a lot of Save The Dates along with invites to get some ideas. I managed to find one that I loved (and have since created, minus the picture) but these are a few of the ones I saved because I thought they were cute. I seem to really like the carnival-style ones!!! I guess because I would want something more formal for our wedding invites, I liked the idea of something a little more fun for our engagement invites and our STD! The first one is from The Wedding Chicks and I love it, it's very cute...I was very tempted by it...
